Shark, what are you looking for? I think West Marine will have most things you need, but again I am not sure what you need. If you are talking clothing, check out Gill. If you need cheap, (not subpar) stuff, call me... the consignment shops here are incredible. Everything imaginable for a little money.

I've been thinking of sailing the Great Lakes, so I'm wondering what kind of clothing one would need.  My big dream is to charter a boat to take me from Chicago to Cleveland.  I'm not really sure how rough the Great Lakes are, and what one would need.  I suppose it can't be too different from sailing the archipelagoes of Sweden, but I don't know.  I also  don't know when the best time is to sail.  I can imagine the winter is a no-go because of the snow and ice up there.

Well, I would first suggest a PFD that is charged would be a good investment for you. Foul weather gear is a must, and layer, layer, layer. As long as you can stay dry you will be OK. Look at booties and the like if you are sailing the Great Lakes at that time. Bottom line, stay warm. One of the most miserable races I ever participated in was when I was wet and cold. Drink alot... that's my remedy for staying warm. Hee hee. You know, I am going to be in Sweden in Nov. for a month, what do you suggest as far as weather? I would love to sail when I am there.

The same suggestion as you gave me.  Layer, layer, and more layer.  November can be quite cold in Sweden.  Then again, with "global warming" you can have 70 degrees.  I think the key is always to wear something breathable, waterproof, and that will give you the flexibility of movement.

Yeah the Gill wear looks awesome!

Hey GK, do you teach people how to sail?  One of these days I want to come down and do some sailing with a professional.

Shark, I have been teaching sailing for a long time. I have a number of boats at my disposal, and would be more than happy to have you here. Sharkette welcome as well....  Now, for your part. You must find out for me about fler versus flera. And how come tr

That message got sent before I was finished. Bottom line please speak with me in Swedish, even if you email me that way. I will have you guys here whenever you want to come and will have you sailing with confidence in a matter of days. We will start out small and end up with the big boats. Consider it a done deal.
